The Baby, He's A-coming!

Fifty one days to go, so the wife tells me. The sheer panic that all dads to be will eventually feel has yet to hit me. I know it will come eventually. It's now all a matter of when.

In the interim, I have been prepping the nursery and getting all of the needed supplies for his eventful arrival.  The room is half painted and I have acquired two, read that two, strollers. Cooper will have some awesome wheels when he arrives.

Here is Cooper's picture as of today, 32 weeks and 4 days and weighing in at 3 pounds 10 ounces.

Cool! They Carved My Name in Stone

Yesterday the wife and I went to the reception that my alma mater, the Cooper Union held for the completion of the Alumni Roof Terrace in the new (not so new anymore) Cooper Union building at 41 Cooper Square.
They were asking for donations a couple of years ago before they started construction of the building and for those who gave over a certain amount, they promised to have the donor's name enslabbed on the terrace somewhere. It was hook, line and sinker for me. With the promise of having my name carved in stone for all future generations of the world to see, I dropped a few G's and yesterday I was able to bask in all of its glory.

Nice and big. Ain't it beautiful?
Here's a close up.
Yesterday was actually my first time really seeing the new building. While the outside can be an eye sore, I think the inside of the building is quite cool. Here's a picture of Lisa and me inside.

Our Little Trip to our Nation's Capital

The weekend before last, the wife and I with our friends Joan and Bobby went down to DC. It was a good trip. We saw most of the sites but like all of the times before that I have gone, there are always places that I wish I had more time to go see. Well at least this time I got to see the Jefferson Memorial.

We took the Metro from Arlington, where we were staying  into DC. We then walked to the tidal basin where the Jefferson Memorial is situated. Then by foot we went to the Lincoln Memorial and then made out way onto Pennsylvania Avenue. A lot of walking but the weather was nice and being that out was Easter weekend, there were huge crowds everywhere.
Just like on my shiny penny

We saw this on our long walk via Pennsylvania Av.

The Day My Wife Left Me

Today, she left me and I come back to an empty house. As Luther once said, "A house is not a home when the two of us are apart." Luckily for me this came in the mail today courtesy of Woot.com and my hard earned $39.

Ladies and gentlemen, what you see before you is the Carrera Agent Black Water Gun Radio Controlled SUV.  It measures over 13 inches in length and this baby is 7.5 inches tall.  Attached to the front of this monster is a water cannon that shoots a stream of water up to 6 meters. All you sickos with golden shower fetishes, this is the RC vehicle for you. Let's take a look from another angle.

The car runs on the included lithium-ion battery which supposedly gets you 40 minutes of play time per charge.  Charging the battery out of the box was only about 1.5 hours for me today.  The controller uses a 9 volt battery which is also included.

So for the next week before I join my wife in Taiwan, I will be keeping myself entertained with this new toy. By entertained, I do not mean of the golden shower variety kind of entertainment. I plan on torturing our cat Sushi and our niece. In fact, I chased her around my mom's house today until my sister-in-law made me stop. It was good fun. Good fun indeed.
